Homes & Real Estate
The Chester County area offers a variety of housing choices - from historic homes to farms to construction of modern subdivisions. Within the city limits of Chester there is a large Registered Historic District of homes dating from 1835. Styles range from Queen Anne to Craftsman, to brick ranch. The town's tree-lined streets reflect the eclectic designs of the early builders in Chester and create a quiet charm of the surroundings. A recent revitalization of the downtown area further enhances the artistry and historic charm of the buildings and homes.
The areas outside the city limits of Chester have developed since the end of World War II and offer a wide variety of homes and developments. Many of the subdivisions have acre-plus lots that are wooded. Developers in the region offer brick, vinyl or a combination of both as construction options. For example, Cherry Hills subdivision just off Highway 9 near the interchange with I-77, offers large wooded lots and private lake lots. Victorian Hills and Britts Meadow are two of the more recent subdivisions being developed in the County, while Peden Oaks is a more established community, with a few lots to be developed. Most of the new home construction in Chester County has been along the I-77 corridor.
In addition to single family homes, Chester offers other housing options such as apartments and townhomes. There are several apartment buildings in downtown and across the community.
The Great Falls area is also a popular choice for newcomers. Located in the Southeastern corner of the County, Great Falls is a beautiful, small town that offers housing similar to that found in the historic district of Chester. In addition, Lake Wateree and the Fishing Creek Reservoir offer beautiful lakefront homes or lots.
If you're looking for large parcels in the country or would enjoy living on a farm, the remaining sections of the County would be perfect for you. The communities of Lowrys, Lewis Turnout, Edgemoor, Lando, Rodman, Blackstock, and Fort Lawn offer the large expanses of land and quiet country living that you will enjoy for decades to come.
